1. I've been accepted into King Edward VII Hall! What do I do next?

Check your e-mails regularly as there will be updates from the KEVII Welcoming & Orientation Committee (KEWOC). Also, remember to inform your Buddy about your check-in time!

Pack your belongings. Join KEVII’s Orientation! And be ready for lots of FUN!

2. What's a Buddy?

A Buddy is a member of KEWOC assigned to fellow freshmen. The buddy will assist freshmen with Hall check-in and manage their early stages of Hall life and life in Singapore. Buddies help in matters like how to open bank accounts, where to use the transponder, purchasing furniture, etc.

3. OK. How much money do I need to bring/pay?
If you're checking in early, the payments are as follows: S$ 450 for deposit, S$ 75 per week for single room, S$ 50 per week for double room, S$ 11 per day for single room, S$ 8 per day for double room. Payments are to be made when you check-in. Vacation and semester stay rates are the same.

The amount of money that you need to bring is: S$450 + Your Vacation Stay Fees. All meals will be provided during Orientation Week.
4. How do I get to KEVII?

It is advisable to take a cab if you're carrying luggage. Tell the cab driver "King Edward VII Hall, NUS, at South Buona Vista Road, behind NUH".

If you're taking public transport (not advisable if you're carrying luggage): Take the MRT to Buona Vista station. Then, get on bus 92 or 200. Stop in front of Science Park I (you may tell the bus driver where you're heading to), then walk to KEVII Hall. You may also ask your Buddy for more information on how to get here.

If you or your parents are driving: On the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) [If you're driving from Malaysia on the Second Link Expressway, you'll pass through Tuas checkpoint before arriving on the AYE], look out for Exit 8 (which lists South Buona Vista Road as one of the destinations. Once you're on the ramp, drive in the direction of King Edward VII Hall / Prince George's Park Residences / NACLI / Science Park I until you reach the junction shown in the photos below. You'll be on South Buona Vista Road before driving onto Kent Ridge Road.

Drive along and you will encounter three paths. Follow the red arrow shown in the photos.

Then, drive down a slope towards the KEVII car park. Please note that the car park is reserved for KEVII's Hall Master & Resident Fellows. Hence only short-term parking is allowed.

5. What should I bring?

•Important documents

•At least one set of formal wear

•Handphone
•Medications
•Relevant Sports Equipment, e.g. Badminton rackets
•If relevant, laptop. Laptops can be bought in NUS during registration too.
•For Orientation purposes, bring two dark T-shirts and a pair of old running shoes.
•Other relevant items.
Items such as pillow, pillowcase, bed sheet, paper, toiletries, hanger, books, etc. can be bought here. Note that there is no pillow, pillowcase or bed sheet provided by Hall. However, a mattress is provided.

6. Where can I buy those items?

IKEA: Room accessories, shoe rack, photo frame, mug, pillow, blanket, pail, etc.
Nanyang Supermart/NTUC FairPrice/Sheng Shiong: Groceries, toiletries, food, clothes hangers
NUS Co-op: Books, stationery & photocopying Services
NUS IT Co-op: Computer peripherals & accessories, printers, laptops, audio equipment

7. I have questions regarding QET, Medical Checkup, CORS Bidding and other topics that were not discussed here.

You may direct those questions to your Buddy who will try their best to help you.
Please note that the medical check-up can be done here in NUS at the University Health Centre (UHC). Do remember to submit the online booking to UHC at http://www.nus.edu.sg/uhc/clinic/UGPreME.html. Please refer to the Freshmen Guide pg 23 for more details.

8. What is RHAPS (Revised Hall Admission Points)?

They are points that you gain when you participate in activities in hall. The number of points varies with the type of activities and the position that you hold in the activity.
