Procedure for Online Application and Submission of Songs

 

Step 1: Make sure you have read and understood the rules of the competition. To read the Rules and Regulations of the competition, please scroll down.

Step 2: Sign up for a User ID by clicking on the Register button and filling in all the required particulars. Note that the lyricist and the composer of a song will be sharing the same User ID and Password.

Step 3: Login using the User ID and Password.

Step 4: Submit your Passport Size Photos and Student Identification Documents by clicking on the Photo Submission tab. Please note the following:
(a) The passport size photo should not exceed 200KB and must be any of the following formats: JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG, TIFF.
(b) The student identification document should not exceed 200KB and must be of the following formats: JPEG, GIF, BMP, PDF, DOC.

Step 5: Submit your Song and Lyrics by clicking on the Song Submission tab. Please note the following:
(a) The song should not exceed 8MB and must be of the following formats: MP3, WMA.
(b) The lyrics must be of the following formats: DOC, PDF, TXT.

Step 6: Should your submission be successful, you will be receiving a confirmation email within a week.

Rules and Regulations

Eligibility

  • All students in any educational institute in Singapore and Johore, Malaysia, including music schools and those currently serving National Service are eligible for this competition.
  • All entries can be in solo or group, including the melodies, lyrics, arrangement and mixing. However, the composer and lyricist of the song must be one of the participants.
  • All submitted entries must be Chinese original works. All songs are accepted, except entries which have won the top 3 prizes in any competition and have no existing contract with any copyright company. Composer, lyricist and arranger must not have any existing contract with any recording or publishing companies.
  • Before the Grand Final, participants must obtain the permission of the organising committee before performing or releasing the submitted song to the public.


Competition Outline

  • The competition is divided into Preliminary round and Grand Final.
  • The eligibility to the Grand Final will be based on the DEMO.
  • The results of the Preliminary Round will be announced a week after the deadline.


Song Copyright

  • All works which have been selected for the Grand Final will be signed to Touch Music Publishing Pte.Ltd. as Original Publisher, but the copyright of the songs still belongs to the song-writers, and XQRJ reserves the rights to use the songs for the releasing of memorial album(s) and other publicity purposes.
  • All works that have not been selected for the Grand Final will not be used by the organizers without permission from the songwriters, so as to protect their rights.


Requirements for submitted songs

  • There is no restriction for the content of the songs. However, there must be no explicit content regarding violence, sex, religion and politics.
  • Duration of the song must not exceed 6 minutes.
  • At least 80% of the songs must be in Chinese (in terms of lyrics and duration); the remaining portion can be in other languages.


Instruments and Accompaniment

  • Performers might not necessarily be the composer or the lyricist. However, the number of singers and instrumentalists must not exceed 8 persons.
  • Any kind of instruments are welcomed (the organizers only provide e-piano, drum and electric guitar), performers are encouraged to bring their own instruments.
  • All accompaniments in the Grand Final must be live performance.
